DESCRIPTION:Christopher Harris\, Professeur invité à l’UJM du 15 novembre au 15 décembre 2017 au LMV@Saint-Etienne. \nActuellement professeur et directeur du Département  de Géologie de l’Université de Cape Town (Afrique du Sud)\, il a été aussi professeur à l’Université J. Monnet (2000-2003). Il est actuellement co-directeur  avec Jean Yves Cottin et Bertrand Moine d’une co-tutelle de thèse avec l’UJM (Ioana Bogdana RADU). C. Harris est spécialisé dans l’étude des isotopes stables conventionnels (Oxygène\, Carbone\, Hydrogène\, soufre) et sa recherche s’applique à la pétrologie magmatique\, l’hydrogéologie et la géologie économique (mines).

DESCRIPTION:Swetha et Anne organisent un EnviroPot le mercredi 15 Novembre à 14h30 en salle des séminaires.\n\nVous pourrez à cette occasion visionner le film suivant :\n\n‘The Facts Are Overwhelming\nThe proliferation of plastic products in the last 70 years or so has beenextraordinary; quite simply we cannot now live without them. We are nowproducing nearly 300 million tons of plastic every year\, half of which isfor single use. More than 8 million tons of plastic is dumped into ouroceans every year.Plastic is cheap and incredibly versatile with properties that make itideal for many applications. However\, these qualities have also resultedin it becoming an environmental issue. We have developed a “disposable”lifestyle and estimates are that around 50% of plastic is used just onceand thrown away.Plastic is a valuable resource and plastic pollution is an unnecessary andunsustainable waste of that resource.’\n\nLe film dure 1h30 et sera précédé par une présentation de 30 min.
