Piston-cylinder presses are high-pressure high-temperature solid media devices that can reach temperatures up to 2300 °C at pressures up to 4 GPa. The four piston-cylinders at LMV are routinely setup for temperatures up to 1600 °C at the moment.

PC1  – non-end-loaded piston-cylinder (0.25-1.2 GPa)	PC2  – non-end-loaded piston-cylinder (0.4-1.7 GPa)
PC3  – end-loaded piston-cylinder (0.5-3.0 GPa)	PC4  – end-loaded piston-cylinder (0.5-4.0 GPa)
