Etude des phénomènes volcaniques, pétrologiques et minéralogiques survenant dans la Terre et les planètes avec une double approche :
- l’expérimentation à haute pression et/ou haute température de 1 bar au Mbar en utilisant des appareils allant des fours à atmosphère contrôlée jusqu’à la cellule diamant à chauffage laser (voir Equipements). Aussi avec une approche in-situ et sur synchrotron.
- L’étude d’objets naturels: inclusions vitreuses, roches ignées et métamorphiques.
