VOLCAPOT : Tabas Blacklands Volcanic field, The Nayband Fault, and the geology of Iran

The Tabas Blacklands Volcanic Field is a small monogenetic field on the Nayband fault, a major lithospheric structure crossing Iran, related to the convergence between the Arabian continental block and the Persian mainland. The fault is seismically active and an Earthquake destroyed villages in the Tabas area last century. Esmail will present the local geological context, a summary of our structural, volcanological, petrological and geochemical research (with F. Nauret, E. Médard, M. Benbakkar, B. van Wyk de Vries) on the Tabas field, providing also the a context of Persian Geology.
