  • This project will study the effect of melt-rock reaction and differentiation on the oxidation state of primitive arc magmas at the crust-mantle transition zone of an exhumed Oceanic Island arc. The main goal is to quantitatively address the oxidation state of primitive arc-magmas and its evolution. The arc-melt fO2 will be accessed via the development of the “Flank method” on clinopyroxene, coupled with state-of-the-art Thermodynamic calculations. These methods will be applied to well characterized mantle and crustal samples from the Kohistan Paleo-Island arc.
